ACM Europe Council Education Committee
The ACM Europe Council establishes the ACM Europe Education Committee as a standing committee of the ACM Europe Council. The ACM Europe Education Committee shall report and be accountable to the ACM Europe Council.
The ACM Europe Education Committee shall be responsible for supporting and interacting with the following activities:
- ITiCSE – the European Education Conference sponsored by ACM SIGCSE, in collaboration with the ACM Europe Council and Informatics Europe. The Education Committee shall be responsible for proposing names of individuals to serve on the ITiCSE Steering Committee for Council confirmation.
- I4All Coalition - The ACM Europe Council, Informatics Europe and the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) have launched an initiative whose main purpose is to give due recognition to Informatics as an essential foundational discipline for education in the twenty-first century. The Committee shall receive reports from the I4All Coalition and will bring such reports to the attention of the Council.
The ACM Europe Education Committee should continue to seek to advance the state of informatics education at all levels within Europe, maintaining a focus on high quality education (addressing only those aspects of tertiary or post-secondary education with a very specific European focus), on diversity and on the capacity of the European workforce.
In addition, the ACM Europe Education Committee will liaise with other education parties within Europe and will also liaise with the ACM Education Board in terms of identifying European representatives to serve on curriculum and other relevant education initiatives.
The ACM Europe Education Committee shall be comprised of a Chair and two additional members who will serve for two-year terms to coincide with the term of the Chair of the ACM Europe Council. The Chair of the Informatics for All Coalition will be an ex-officio member of the Committee. The Chair of the Committee shall be appointed by the Chair of the ACM Europe Council.
